There are collection tours and themed talks to help you enjoy young artists’ experiments.

Guided talks are available in different formats.

  • Collection, ‘monographic’, themed tours

Tours in the traditional form of a talk on temporary exhibitions. The aim of monographic talks are the most important personalities in the art of St. Petersburg in the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • Talks on art

Talks on art with the Museum curators or guest experts to help you appreciate all the aspects of the art of St. Petersburg, to discuss with you the pluses and minuses of young artists’ productions, etc.

  • Meeting an artist

Meeting an artist is a unique opportunity to listen to the author’s comments on his or her works exhibited in the Museum and on the atmosphere in which it was created, as well as the artist’s view on art.

Seminars

These sessions led jointly by the curators and practicing artists of St. Petersburg are aimed at those who would like to find out more about painting-, sculpture-, drawing-, and other art techniques and use their skills to create an art object, or simply spend a day-off in a creative atmosphere.

  • Make your own masterpiece

An expert will tell you about the basic painting techniques and explain how an image emerges from the artist’s fantasy to become materialized on canvas.

  • Printmaking class

The Museum has a real printmaking workshop! Under a professional engraver-artist you will explore the entire process of printmaking, from forming the conception to creating a print, using special equipment. Practical session will give you an opportunity not only to perceive the difference between various printing techniques (etching, aquatint, drypoint, etc.) but also to make your own print, an ex-libris, a post-card or a copy after a work from the Museum collection.

  • Making objets d’art

Nowadays a work of art is not only a painting, etching or sculpture. You will understand what is meant by an ‘art object’ after you have created it yourself from some improvised materials. Taking part in such creative experiment, you will be able to appreciate all the opportunities modern art offers you.

Open Workshops

The Museum organizes meetings with artists in an informal atmosphere of their workshops, different in the same way as the artists themselves, concealing mysteries of their owners’ talent. Each meeting will be a ‘collection tour’ accompanied by the artists’ comments on their works and group discussions.
